The Board of Executive Directors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved the launch of a public consultation process to receive comments from all interested parties on its proposed new Access to Information policy, which seeks to increase transparency, optimize corporate governance and improve accountability.
The new policy proposal seeks to maximize access to information by adopting clearer language, reducing declassification exceptions, and simplifying procedures to make the process by which people ask questions and receive answers more user-friendly and efficient.
The public consultation will consist of three phases, the details of which will be shared through the Public Consultation Process Portal. To reach the widest possible audience, the IDB will hold an open virtual consultation session to receive comments from a wide range of organizations, as well as multiple real-time meetings with civil society organizations working on transparency, open government and access to information issues to receive technical comments.
