General Information

Each year the Boards of Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IDB Invest) hold their Annual Meetings in one of the Bank’s member countries. This official gathering is a forum for discussion among the institution’s Governors, most of whom are ministers of finance, presidents of central banks, or other high-level authorities of the member countries. Representatives of multilateral financial institutions, development agencies and private banks also attend.

Dates and venue
The Sixty-fourth Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank and the Thirty-eighth Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of IDB Invest will be held in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, from 6 to 10 March, 2024 at the Barceló Bávaro Convention Center.

Simultaneous interpretation
Spanish and English interpretation will be provided during the seminars. Interpretation will be provided during the official sessions in the Bank’s official languages: Spanish, English, Portuguese and French.

Registration of participants 

Participation at the Annual Meetings is by invitation. The list of special guests from each member country of the IDB and the IDB Invest, including private sector organizations, banks, and associations, is prepared according to internal procedures established for that purpose and must be approved by the respective country authorities. The list for each country is updated yearly to include requests received after the previous Annual Meetings up to the time it is submitted to the Board of Executive Directors. Requests received after that are submitted to the respective Executive Director on an individual basis.

Institutions interested in being invited to the upcoming Annual Meetings should enter to this link and complete the form. There is no cost for registering. Guests are responsible for their own travel, lodging, and other expenses.

Deadline to request an invitation is February 16, 2024.

Information about the host country

About the host city:  Punta Cana is located in the province of La Altagracia, the easternmost point of the Dominican Republic. It is made up of more than 37 kilometers of beach, with Bávaro beach standing out thanks to the high quality of its beach and the large number of hotels located in the area.

Language: The official language is Spanish.

Currency: The official currency of the Dominican Republic is the Dominican Peso. You can check the currency exchange rate at the following link.

Entry to the country and visas: You can check visa requirements here. For entering and leaving the Dominican Republic, it is mandatory for each passenger to complete a digital form. You can access the form here.

Weather: The city of Punta Cana has a warm and humid tropical climate with an average of 28°C / 80°F during the days of the Annual Meetings.

Electricity: The electrical current used is 120 volts, with socket types A and B.

Time zone: During the Annual Meetings, Punta Cana will be four hours behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT-4).
