CZMAI is mandated to provide evidence-based guidance to inform policy development for the utilization and planned development of Belize’s coastal zone. Thus, CZMAI’s delivery of purpose is focused on policy development and coordination, planning and monitoring the use and development of resources within the coastal zone of Belize. At the center of CZMAI’s legal mandate is the preparation and implementation of a national integrated coastal zone management (ICZM) plan.
